I love my sister.
Lots of reasons. This is the most recent:
If you are not yet a Weebl & Bob fan, go get yourself an education, quickly. Then keep watching until your eyes go numb, here.

I am halfway through my week off before starting the new job, and really, I am ready to see some scenery outside my own house. I was home with the babysitting-induced headcold of death for two weeks, lost my voice, and was absolutely usefless, and this week I am feeling well enough but have managed to slide back into my natural state of sloth. That is to say that I am spending way too much time staring at my computer screen and not enough time roaming the streets of the universe, looking for some action. The poor nephew (as previously mentioned somewhere, my 18 year old, high energy, nephew is living here now) is being polite but would really rather have me crank up my energy level a bit to make his daily life a bit less dull.
We live in the quietest place, in a quiet town, a shortish commute from where we both work, which is not quiet, so when the husband and I are both on our normal routines, we spend very little time at home, and when we are here the quiet of the place is like a gift from the universe. That said, neither of us, when we were 18, would have been able to live here for more than about 4.579 minutes without pulling out our hair. There is nothing to do unless you love to read or cook, and even then, you have to get out now and then.
Adjusting to the new addition to our little pod has been not so bad; everyone (including, or rather especially, me) has been worried about how we will manage having this big change happen in our lives, and you know… he’s a great kid. Very friendly, trying to feel out the environment, obviously missing home. I like him, and I think the biggest thing is to try not to expect him to be me and do everything the way I think makes sense. Logic, of course, tells us that I am all-knowing and that of course he should do things my way, but reason tells us, of course, that I am in fact dangerously low on good judgement without regular coffee infusions. So, lets let him figure out life on his own, and I’ll just hit him with the stun-gun when I see something going hideously amiss.
Parenting tips from a dedicated non-mom. : )

What’s going on in my life, you ask? Chickens never lie. More to come.
Meanwhile, please note: I imported a bunch of blog posts from various places and began the process of cleaning them up, adding back some of the images that have mysteriously vanished in the process, etc. The problem is that if I spend as much time as I could on cleaning everything up, I will never actually get around to posting anything new, which, of course, is the point of reconstructing a blog in the first place. (le sigh.)
Don’t get attached to anything older than this post, as lots of older stuff will likely be deleted or at least severely edited as I have time. ie: For a while, I was throwing together very brief posts about books I’d been reading, just to remind myself of them, but with no real thought to ‘book reviewing’. These are just random notes to myself. I once imported all of my posts from tribe.net (which is becoming painfully difficult to log into, I’m sorry to say) but I am not at all sure that I ever put them into working order, so it is very possible that all you have here on this blog is the quickie note stuff that I usually threw at my last blog; not much to see. I am working on pulling some of the more recent posts from there over to here, but it’s a slower process. Yes, yes, I know. Just start writing, already.
So the compromise is this: I will only do clean-up and design tweaks after posting something new, and you (yes you,) will agree to ignore any and all posts older than this one for a little while.

Spent last weekend in Seattle. Rather nice to be home this weekend, settled in with the boy.
Have a new nephew… isn’t that lovely? I get to see him today, and will be bringing along bubbles and stickers for his 2 year old brother who most assuredly will be feeling the sting of not being the baby anymore.
Dreamt last night that I was car-jacked by a little old lady with a handgun. She promised to bring back my car in two days, and I refused to give it to her, so instead we went on a roadtrip to Arizona. It was a little Thelma and Louise-esque, but she must have been in her 80’s.
Worried about my sister’s health. I really need to hear better news from her soon… it’s hard not to worry about someone when they are so far away that you are unable to effectively force them to be ok with the focused beam of your mind-laser thingie.
Hoping that my very dear friend has success in buying the house he wants.
Beautiful weather today. I am going out there to absorb this sunlight and a couple hundred pages of Don Quixote.
Must call my mother.
My nasturtiums are beginning to bloom. This is significant because I just planted the little seeds about 6 weeks ago, so there are now little flowers where previously there had been only hard packed dirt. Yay! Poppies are still popping as well, and the roses are going crazy, so things are coming along nicely back there.
Porter ate another one of my shoes. (grumble.) We’ve rigged the closet to finally close securely, but he is a sneaky bugger and finds whatever I Ieave unguarded. Meh!
I am thinking of writing. It’s been a while since I wrote with any serious intent. Two minutes to warm up my fingers is just not the same as writing with intent. Maybe three minutes, to warm up my brain.
I have a date with dear friends next Saturday. Bet they think I’ve forgotten, as I am wont to do.
Ok, that’s it for now. I am off to buy a baby present and put on my Auntie attire. At some point, i will make an effort to use complete sentances and string together some ideas longer than 15 words at a time.
